Planning Sequence

The Action: we decided that there will be a running sequence in the woods. We also came up with a story line of a woman who has died 50 years ago, we then decided how the girl meets the woman- hurts foot, meet in the woods-but this we felt would make the sequence over two minutes. We first decided to include a shot of a house, which we had a found an ideal location it looks old, however this wasn't an essential shot. We then discussed possible ways of Neeri (character running) finds Zainab dead- her running away to a house after friend is dead and somebody from a house nearby or police telling her. But we decided on a newspaper found in the house, before the girl dies so that the sequence can end on Beatrice Smith.

The theme: our aim is to create suspense, tension and fear. Its a horror/supernatural thriller.

The Narrative: use of heart beats at running sequence to create a different effect. We found out that running through woods scenes were common so we decided to change ours. We also wanted Beatrice Smith to pop up at the end like in Children Of Men hence decided to use a flashback- this also helped to compress time.

The Characters: the two girls were meant to be normal teenage girls one really talkative and naive and trusts Beatrice. The other, the smart one who is not happy to come to a strangers house and is nosy. Beatrice Smith we wanted a cold expressionless look, and plain clothes.

The Setting: old looking house, dark, big scary woods. Mise-en-scene we it to be dark because its night

Final Movie

We are really happy with our efforts to put this opening together, we all worked well together and made a great team. We are especially happy with the effects created by the sound, and the heart beats. There were parts that created difficulty for example lighting, and finding the perfect music however we found music that worked really well together

companies who might distribute our film

monogram pictures corporation is a company, many people may not know this company, but its a Hollywood studio who make and distribute films. they do have low budget so I'm not sure whether they would consider in producing the film. by researching the company, it seems like they don't have any horror films.
but, i'm not really confident in this one so please give more suggestions !

independent film company who might consider screening

1. go on google and find an independent film company that might consider screening our film
firstly, remember we were told that the horror film would be really expensive? so maybe the US might consider it rather than UK because they wouldnt even look at it as they would have to use a large amount of money.  i found that there were so many different companies, for example, blue sky studios, 20th century fox, walt disney, dreamworks, etc. but i thought that the universal studios would be the best because they've done so many famous 'horror' or extreme like films. eg the mummy, jaws etc.
plus if the characters are going to be people who's famously known, then that would be an extra amount.
if you have a different opinion, please write !

Our group decided it would be easier and more effective if we used a handheld camera here wheresome advantages and some disadvantages of making this decidion

One of the negative points about using the camera in this way is that Parts of our video footage we recorded was too shaky, or unfocused. However we overcame this problem by using the ‘razor tool’ to cut and delete the pieces of footage where the camera is moving too much.

Music box

Hello guys,

I have come up with the idea of using a music box sound in the background of our opening sequence.

I think this would be a good idea because it will add that element of mystery that out piece is missing.
I also think the change of non-diegetic music will make our film introduction more interesting for the audience to watch. This sound will also help to build up the story line further by changing the mood of our introduction in the second half of it.
Please comment and tell me what you think ☺
